Do you really need a wedding planner?

Some of my preferred Florida wedding planners are Roots to Stems, Woven and Revel, Micro Miami Weddings, Bella Sposa Events, Diamond Receptions, Taylor Falcon Events, At Last Weddings, Coastal Coordinating, Your Runway Event, Something Blue Orlando, Melanie Paige Events, Kristy Rapp Events and Envy Events and Design.

Planning a wedding, means phrases you have never heard of. I am here to spark some understanding to the words full-service or partial-service wedding planner, DOC or ‘day-of-coordinator’.

First of all, if you are planning to get a planner, the sooner the better. They can help with more than what you think. They help with budget, negotiate invoices, create design concept, vendors, contracts, wedding terminology, site tours, menu tasting, timelines, style, transportation, the rehearsal and the wedding day. This is great for you, if you have the budget, don’t have the time, don’t want the stress, or don’t know the area.

Now there is also a wedding day of or month of planner, partial-service planner, which is a bit different. They check in a few months of, month or week of - to get all the updates on everything you have put together yourself, leading up to the big day. They also help with contracts, wedding terminology, site tours, timelines, the rehearsal and the wedding day. This is great for you, if you have a slim budget, are extremely detail orientated.

One more leading role in your day, is a wedding designer. Yes, they exist! That is how gorgeous weddings come about. Thier role, is mainly aesthetic. They are in charge, only of the design of the day. Some planners include this by the way! They create concepts, color palate, over-sees decor budget etc.

I wanted to explain what a wedding day of coordinator is. They are awesome for the venue. They make sure you, the venue and their event staff are running smoothly. They make sure the venue and staff are on point and do some brief helping with coordination of your vendors. However, as great as it is having a DOC, having a private planner is GAME CHANGING. I no longer take weddings that do not have this, as I find I cannot get as creative, since I am making sure everything is in place and on time when the DOC is busy tying loose ends with the venue and event staff.

Let’s be honest, it’s best to leave it to the expert. Either you have a big budget, or a lower one, it’s best to get some crucial help from the experts. Read their reviews, interview them and go over plans. I promise it is totally worth the investment. It’s one of those go big or go home situations. And even if you are doing your wedding at a private estate, I still highly recommend some help!
