Thought of the day:
Let’s talk about the post-production process. I’ve always truly felt that the shutter click is only part of a photographer’s creative process. The other important part of the artistry is, what we do when we edit. A quote by Ansel Adams that’s so real is, “you don’t take a photograph, you make it.”
I find such peace and calm in this part of my career. Never would I ever out source my work to an editing company, no matter how swamped I get. The reality is, at least for me, the most important is the editing. I cannot express enough how much that can make or break or even completely change a photo.
This week, I am listening to the audio book “I’mpossible” by @jeremycowart. The whole thing not only makes me think about myself, but my two children. He speaks about how he created his own business, and the process it took him to get there. The book runs CHILLS down my spine. Why? Because I am him. He’s speaking to me, about me (it feels). .
I will always tell everyone I meet and always to my children, you can do ANYTHING you put your mind to, and never say can’t. Because you always can!
He also goes on to how “strong minds conversate ideas, average minds conversate events and weak minds conversate people.” I could not agree more, and would explain fully why I surround myself with like minded people. .
He also states his parents always tell him, “through Jesus all things are possible”.. I love that and plan to also implement that into my children’s mindset.. through Jesus ALL things ARE possible.
I know I’m over here rambling, but the moral of the story is, chase your dreams no matter WHAT it is. You want something, you tell yourself you’re going to do it. Invision it and work towards that goal.
For me personally, it was that STRONG magnetic pull to embrace my God given talent through photography. I don’t think twice, I just create create and create and have since 2011. I wish so dearly I knew my passion at a young age. I have always been an artist, but not the right one. Now I am and I get to enjoy and embrace every bit of my artistic desire to shoot & edit.
Believe. Dream. Do.
