FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How do I book?

Yay, I am so excited you have reached the point that you want us to work together!! To reserve your wedding date, you simply need to sign the contract and pay a non-refundable 25-50% retainer. The retainer amount is case by case basis. This can all be done online through me directly in your client portal. Ask me to set you up and I will send over the contract and investment forms.

Do you travel?

Definitely!! For your event or day, I will create a personalized travel amount. To me it doesn’t matter if it’s across the world, I would be happy to come your way!! Usually for national trips, it can range around an additional $1000+.

Where can I find a full wedding album?

Let me know what you would like to see, and I will send it over right away! You also are free to browse my blog or portfolio on www.josiebrooksphotography.com for highlights. I tend to add lots of photos in there. That way, you also get to see what customers get when I send out a blog. Also, here are my recent weddings I have done https://josiebrooksphotography.pic-time.com/portfolio?brandId=0. I try to update my blog, portfolio every few months.

Who owns the copyright to my images?

While I retain the copyright of the images from your wedding day, the contract gives personal print permissions to our clients, for any non-commercial usage. If you have any concerns about privacy, please let me know. Also, if your printing lab requests a print release, just let me know and I will send one over right away!

Do you have insurance?

I sure do, let me know if your venue needs my registered number. Usually they do not ask for them. They will ask you if they need them.

What camera gear do you use?

I shoot on two Nikon D750’s and have a third back up that I keep in my car. I have three prime lenses (50mm 1.8, 35mm 1.4, and 85mm 1.8) and three flashes. I am geared to do off camera flash, but it’s not my style. I like to use natural light and if you would like to see weddings with dark lighting conditions and how I light it up, just let me know.

When you shoot the wedding, how do you and your second shooter split the task?

We separate. The second shooter focuses on the groom all day, I focus on the bride.

How many weddings have you shot?

I have counted 65 and going. I have been photographing since 2011 and took this full time with no other jobs in 2015.

Who edits when there is a second shooter?

I do. My second shooter hands me over the cards at the end of the night, and I pay her. I go home and back up on two hard drives, on my PC, on a cloud file and lastly, I don’t erase the cards until the session is delivered.

Do you deliver RAW files?

I do not deliver RAW files. RAW files are unedited and therefore are not an accurate representation of my work or my brand. An unedited RAW file does not meet my standard of excellence. If I decided to deliver these files to my clients, it removes my discretion from the process.

When will I receive my images?

I pride myself in efficient processing and quick turnaround times, while keeping full quality! You can expect a preview from your wedding day or session posted to the Facebook page within a few days of your event, and an e-mail containing your full gallery within two-three weeks of your session, or four-six weeks of your event.

Do you do sneak peeks?

I do! Within a few days of your session when backing up your files to three places, I choose the favs I clearly remember from your day! And I upload to Facebook and Instagram tagging all the places I know to tag AND I set you up with your sneak peeks on a mobile app! It allows you to upload your sneak peek right to your phone!

Where will I receive my images, and how are they delivered?

I will deliver your images in your password protected website. Family and friends can be given the code to download the included digital album, or purchase prints, or products. The website instructs you on how to upload, and the digital album expires in 4 weeks from delivery. I pay to host on pixiset for sessions, and pic-time for weddings!

I am looking to cover video also, do you do that too?

I do not shoot video. However, I do have a list of video and other vendors ready for you. Even if you do not book me, I am happy to send that list in advance.

How would you describe your personality while photographing?

I am very laid back, professional, flexible, calm and in control. For your wedding, that is what is necessary for a successful day.

I am laid back and am looking for a photographer to be in control, but unobtrusive. I have been to weddings where the photographer was taking away from the fun of the day. How do you work?

I promise to be unobtrusive your entire wedding day. I am here for you, not me. Anything you request or need, I am your gal! I am on your side 100%. To tie in with this fun fact, I am also not just another vendor, I am here to be your friend. Expect to have fun with me and feel very comfortable and taken care of.

How do you stay organized?

I like to get to know you both as much as I can through meeting in person, or the questionnaire you fill out. Once I get that questionnaire, I will prioritize everything that is important to you. Also, I customize your timeline with you (and your coordinator if you have one).

What is your style?

My style is very journalistic, classic and artistic. I edit my photos to showcase actual colors. The only color I change is my greens. I like more of a forest green, as opposed to vibrant tropical green. If you look at my Instagram, you will get a good sense of my aesthetic. I also experiment with lighting at every wedding. Expect to get a collection of artistic images, experimenting with shadows/light lighting conditions. Also, I like to keep your colors true to what you chose, if you chose white, yellow and pink expect to see that. I think it is important to stay true to the bride’s vision/color palate and not distort that with my editing.

What if we’re awkward in front of the camera?

I promise I have seen it all and not once have we had a bad photographic outcome. Also, I created a custom engagement guide just for you. The guide goes into details about this. That is something I took a lot of time to put together, so you arrive knowing what to expect, know what to do and love what you are wearing!

Can we add on a session with my portraits or wedding?

It will be my pleasure to add on sessions (including a day-after session) any time if I am open. You can elect to add on hours as late as the moment we are scheduled to leave! If you choose to have us stay longer, just let me know and I will add it to your online invoice afterwards. You can choose to add on an album anytime within a year after your images are delivered.

Who is your second photographer?

I hand select a photographer that vibes the best with my personality. I choose photographers that I have worked with for years, and that I am now very close to outside of work because of it. My clients are very important to me, and that is why I select the most talented and trusted photographers I know!!

Who am will physically shoot my wedding day and how do you choose?

Most of the time, it will be me (Josie) unless mentioned otherwise in our first email.  If I am physically booked, I have some amazing ladies currently that are on JBP team. I have chosen them, because they complement my style the best and have worked with me many times. If they will be shooting your wedding, I will 100% let you know in the early stages of the booking process. The quality of photography and style will not be compromised in any way, regardless who will be there. They shoot like me and my brand, and I edit them. We have worked together enough times, that they know exactly how I like things done. You will still be working with me every step of the way, including portrait/engagement sessions if we booked those!

What if I have more questions that you don’t have here?

Totally expected or normal!! Let me know, and I will be happy to answer!

Thank you for reaching out to me! I am honored that you have considered me to document your special day. If you have any more questions, feel free to contact me at any time. -Josie
